Examination And Assesments

CIAs are composed of multiple components and carry 50% weightage CIA 1 and 3 are faculty-initiated ones, CIA 2 is the Mid-sem exam. End Semester Exam carries 50% weightage.

Department Overview:

The Department of Political Science and History intends to strengthen the critical acumen of the students through understanding the foundational aspects of the disciplines. The emphasis is on structuring an ethical environment where all challenges are legitimized on the basis of understanding debates, differing view points and accepting diversity. The Department emphasizes research orientation, in the syllabus, pedagogy & all other initiatives. This core strength, is to make students of the department, high value candidates in placement sector and in centers of advanced learning too.

VISION: To become a globally recognized center for Excellence with a critical understanding of the past and present, towards constructing a comprehensive future.

MISSION: Mission of the department is to groom socially concerned and politically conscious citizens and effective public policy experts with a strong grounding in interdisciplinary approaches by providing a platform for critical analysis, experimentation and discovery.

Introduction to Program:

The Department of Political Science and History offers a three year undergraduate programme in History as part of a triple major, along with Economics and Political Science . A student is required to study one History and Political Science paper in each of the first four semesters .In the Fifth and Sixth semesters there are two papers per semester, thus making it a total of eight papers spread across three years. There is also a provision for students to opt for an additional elective in the sixth semester which is a research based dissertation or research paper writing for hundred marks carrying three credits.
